The words Body
, Heart, Spirit and Soul do not appear on the label of a bottle of Champagne. In practice, this process of initiation cannot replace the obligatory technical descriptions found on a label.
However, the style of the wine (Brut or Demi-sec, Vintage or non-vintage, etc…) will allow you to recognise the four families.
Do not forget that Champagne wines evolve over time, whether it is in the cellars of Champagne, in the shops or in your own cellar. As a result, the wines, position on the Champagne map may change also.
- The labels and back labels describe the wines with a certain amount of precision.
- The shop owners and wine waiters all know them.
- The Growers and Houses in Champagne produce brochures and information sheets that describe their wines.
- Guide books and press articles talk about them very clearly.
But of course, the ideal way is to go to the Champagne region, to visit the Growers and Houses, to meet them and listen to them talk of their wines.
